What are the negative effects when you send out your email address (not password though) to some websites asking for it when offering newsletters, joining groups, and there’s no contract that says they’ll keep confidentiality? Is the only risk going to be lots of spam mail if the website was actually not legit?

Every time you send out 2 pieces of information about yourself over the Internet, you are able to be located in real life. People are not as anonymous as they think.
