Why do my Yahoo.co.uk email accounts suddenly now not download to my Apple Mail (POP)?
I’ve had email accounts through yahoo.co.uk for years now, and had no problems (okay, *occasional* problems) with getting them piped through POP into Apple Mail on my Mac.
But today I noticed all 4 of my email accounts on Mail were displaying the dreaded triangle of doom symbol. I’m getting timeout errors on all of them, all day long. I cannot send or receive through Mail.
I have pottered around switching between 110 & 995 and 587 & 465 on all the accounts, which generally sorts any problems out with individual accounts, but to no avail.
I have checked my settings (as shown at http://popfwd.mail.yahoo.com/pf/PopConfig?.intl=uk&.addr=&.bm= ) and all is as it should be at my end.
Everything was running fine yesterday, the day before, last week, last year, etc – just not today! I’ve checked my Yahoo accounts via webmail, nothing out of the ordinary in my inboxes, no mahoosively big attachments or anything. Just the usual batch of Facebook notifications, newsletters, personal text emails and the like.
So what’s going on?
I’m using Yahoo Mail Classic, I’m in the UK, I’m on a PowerPC G5 Mac running OSX Tiger (10.4.11) and Mail 2.1.3.

Sorry not an answer but a vote of sympathy. I am having the same problem with a PC and Outlook. Earlier I was also experiancing timeouts directly on yahoo mail but they have now been resolved. Would also appreciate an answer.

Ok. As Harvey says change the pop mail setting to .com but NOT your smtp mail setting. Leaving that one at .co.uk means both sending and receiving work.

Yahoo have introduced MailPlus, a service you pay real money to use. MailPlus is the service that supports POP email, and so have withdrawn access to their POP servers from free accounts.

Hi Chris, just been on the thread titled
Yahoo POP mail on my MAC stopped working…??!!?
and some people are having luck changing .co.uk at the end of your settings to .com or even adding “plus” to the start of these codes.
But for me (on Mac Entourage) it still doesn’t work entirely as I am now receiving mail but still cant send and have constantly got that dammed triangle!!
It seems Yahoo are having quite an issue with this in the last 48 hours so at least you’re not alone, not that that helps resolve it!!
I’m gonna keep regularly checking back round here for more solutions and keep my fingers crossed!
Good luck!

I have just spent all afternoon trying to get my yahoo.co.uk email account to work. I could it get it to either work receiving or sending but not both. But after reading answers I have found success with:
On general – enter pop.mail.yahoo.com
then – advanced
pop.mail.yahoo.com
pop.smtp.yahoo.co.uk
