Is there an effective way to reduce or eliminate SPAM?
Is there any way to either reduce or eliminate the amount of SPAM email I receive daily? It seems like I’m getting more and more every day.
I use Outlook express as my email program and there doesn’t seem to be any kind of SPAM block with that program.
Most of the SPAM I get doesn’t seem to come as the result of having signed up for things, like newsletters or email alerts. It’s that real “junk” type of SPAM (“Please help me sir” letters from Nigeria and so on, “You’ve won the so-and-so lottery,” “We have a job offer for you,” etc.)
Is there any way to report the senders? Any way to block these emails? Anything that really works to reduce SPAM?
Thanks in advance!
And, please don’t just tell me to get another email account or several email accounts….I have several email accounts and that does not seem to reduce the SPAM.
I’m looking for a way to either block the SPAM or report the people who are doing it.

The best way I know of reducing spam is by switching email programs. Outlook express has no built in spam filter, but the program called Mozilla Thunderbird ( ) has a moderately effective one. And as a bonus, it is completely free. Thunderbird has a layout very similar to Outlook Express and it will automatically transfer your settings and emails from outlook to itself. It’s a pretty safe bet if you ask me.

Pyria is right you cause your own spam by putting your email address on websites but that’s water underneath the bridge you can set up rules in outlook express so if you get a lot of messages with the same subject ex.. if the word spam is in the subject automatically move to trash you also have a blocked list you can block the senders email but they often don’t send from the same address twice
good luck like Pyria said make an acct that’s just for friends and family then have a junk email for registering products or requesting catalogs etc…

the best spam filter to use is spamfighter,it works only with outlook and still doesn’t support mozilla thunderbird….i have tried it with microsoft email that come with vista and it’s awesome.
also if uhave vista u can try the microsoft windows mail as it has a good built in junk filter(really better than mozilla one!)
