28 weeks old- what should she be eating?

My daughter is 28 weeks old now.. (it’s been seven years since my last child was born- so i dont remember this stuff) what should /can she be eating. She eats 2 jars of 2nd foods everyday- besides her bottle with formula. I just got a “week 28 in your babies development email newsletter” and it said that at 28 weeks they should be ready to eat cheerios and finger foods? How and when do I know when she is ready for them? When did all your babies start eating “finger food”? Thanks for the help/advice in advance.
p.s. none of her teeth have come in yet.

I don’t think 28 week old babies should have hard solid food like Cheerios or finger foods. Isn’t that usually for a one year old – with teeth?
Call the doctor before you give the baby finger food or anything that needs to be chewed.

My son is the same age. He just started on solids a month ago. On my chart, they say finger food starts at or around 9 months because they are eating later. Also, they must be able to grab objects between their thumb and index so they can pick up the food. And they are only used to puree right now, and after, we start making the purees thicker so they can get used to chewing and then comes finger food. My son won’t be ready for at least another month I think. Nothing to worry about.

About the time they can sit up you can start trying finger foods. Gerber makes good finger foods that dissolve completely. My kids loved the Gerber stars that come in fruit and vegetable flavors.
I wouldn’t worry that she doesn’t have teeth. Babies can use their gums very effectively to chew foods.

Yeah, cheerios, mashed potatoes, jello, spaghettios, teething cookies by gerber that are really messy. Get some canned peas, carrots, something like that Veg-All. I remember when mine were that little, it was so much fun to watch them taste new food and make funny faces.

My daughter started eating table foods when she was 10 months old. Your daughter should have been done eating baby food a long time ago (around 1 year old). And she shouldn’t be getting a bottle or formula anymore (that should have stopped around 1 year old). You need to get her drinking whole milk out of a sippy cup with her meals/snacks and she can start eating things like crackers, cheerios, bananas, pasta, fruits (no apples yet), cheese, yogurt… really anything that you eat, just make sure that it’s cut up very small so that she can chew it. Allow her to use her hands to feed herself too. It’s good for her fine motor skills to learn to feed herself. Do you take your daughter to the pediatrician? Maybe you should…

Well i think that if she has some teeth thhan she is ok but if she is not forming any teeth at all then i think that cheerious are a bit hard for her her to chew ( she would be cheewing on her gumms). You should try baby gerber’s baby cheerious ( i think they can melt in their mout). Also try their
little baby ontray meals.

28 wks old…She shouldn’t be eating solids yet. My son was like 11 mos. before I even gave him a piece of bread…You should stick to pureed baby food until she has some teeth to chew.

Quick math lesson for those chastising you.. 28 weeks/4 weeks/mo=7 months.
Cheerios, Veggie Puffs (I think they’re made by Gerber-in the baby food section. Use those first. They dissolve in the baby’s mouth. And no, you don’t need teeth to chew Cheerios. Their gums and saliva are enough to break them down). You can also try cutting a very ripe banana into tiny pieces. Well cooked peas work well, as they are nice and small. Cut up ripe avocado, a bit of REALLY ripe melon, anything that’s soft. Their gums are hard. Just make sure everything is soft and small. It will help her with learning to chew, so when her teeth come in, she can eat more foods!
