Comment on Senator Obama’s CHOICE regrding church/pastor affilitation?

I read this comment in an online newsletter response section. It is in regard to Senator Obama’s difficulty in attracting the Jewish vote in Florida. I don’t completely agree w/ the sentiment, and yet it is the first of it’s type that I would consider as a valid question of religious affilitation….what do you think?
“He has chosen to follow a pastor who embracess Louis Farrahkan. Its a CHOICE. He cannot distance himself from this because he CHOOSES to belong to this church.
I cannot think of one other ” Christian” Church in America that has showed such warm support for the Nation of Islam leader.
This is like attending David Dukes Christmas party and trying to distance yourself from his views.”
** Red: Not talking about Muslim in general. Talking about Obama’s church. There are many churches. Obama’s pastor is hugely vocal about some ideas that at are pretty nasty toward Jews in particular. People do judge you by the company you keep….and Yes, I would and have left my temple if it represented ideals and preached to things I found reprehensible.

kind of like Romney made a CHOICE to belong to a church that wouldn’t allow black members until 1984…right?

I also agree. But there are alternatives in voting. Vote for anyone from the GOP. They are true American patriots and personify the American dream.

If Obama was really a Christian, he would have rid himself of his Muslim name. Ask yourself why he hasn’t.

The republicans investigated Obama long ago. They discovered his association with a pastor who likes Farrahkan. This does’nt prove Obama likes Farrahkan, but this is enough to stop Jewish democrats from voting for Obama in november. That is why the GOP his helping Obama get nominated.

So what if his pastor embraces Farrakhan.
You have to realize in the black community that the Nation of Islam has turned individuals around that no one else can. & I’m not talking about just being Muslim. The Nation is about discipline and without it a lot of people would be delinquents or repeat offenders. So before you go with what the media tells you talk to a Muslim.
Do you stop going to your church because you disagree with some views? I would guess probably not because people are different & you don’t always agree. So would there be a problem if he was Muslim? Just because someone is Muslim doesn’t mean that they are bad. True some are fanatics but then again so are some Christians. & by the way I’m Christian.

I think it is so funny how people like to think they know so much about a church they have never heard about nor gone to. And no one starting these rumors are from Chicago obviously. Michael J. Fox, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton….all of these CHRISTIAN men have been to this church and supported this church. Supporting positive things that a person does is not a crime or something that should be placed under scrutiny. I supported Michael Jackson by buying his CD’s, he makes good music. It doesn’t mean that I am gonna molest young boys in my spare time.

i think he is being real, he did not distance himself (not saying that he should) b/c it’d make him ‘look bad’. What can i say the man is as real as they come..some pple have a problem dealing with that.
Ask urself - is this the kind of issue u want to concentrate on while voting 4 a PRESIDENT! they r tricking u into going around in circles, while they take ur votes!!! Wake up America and look at the issues that matter!
[No offence , u r entitled as to what u think is relevant but, i just can't believe something that r being circulated about Obama, so trivial!]

Well, look at it this way. Even though I am married to my wife, I do not agree with everything she says right? It is the same thing with Obama.
