Young teen searching for a job dealing with writing?

So I’m a young teen in the So-Cal area in need of cash, as all teens my age do.
My forte is writing…so my question to you guys is, is it possible for me to write editorials, reviews, etc. and submit it to newspapers, magazines, etc. (or even help design newsletters for businesses) and get payed?
If so, where are my options to write to?
I know my options aren’t big, seeing as how I’m so darn young. But babysitting and yard work aside, does anyone know of anything I can do that uses my writing skill as an advantage, and gives me a cash return?

Hi there! You may have better luck with magazines. I would try there first…see about sending in submissions there…then in a year or two you can go to the newspapers and say oh i’ve been published here and here, and they will be impressed with your credentials, and maybe even hire you part-time while you are in school. Good luck!!!

I agree that the magazine might being your better option, but please look into opportunities for young authors. You have a better shot at getting published than I do! I wish I had started a lot younger
The start you get now might also help you with college tuition and starting a good life as opposed to a ho-hum one.
If you have something already written, print off a few copies and find the submission requirements for magazines and papers that fit your genre or areas of interest. Many of these details are outlined on their website, usually under “contact us.” Talk to your teachers at school, as they might have some other ideas, and their ideas might incorporate a bigger picture for you, for now and beyond.
Take care and I hope for the best for you!

Why don’t you look for some online freelance writing opportunities? A few websites that might help you out:
Or you can look here: Someone sent me this site the other day, but I haven’t had a chance to browse it very thoroughly so keep that in mind.
Good luck!

Don’t you have relatives?
That’s the quickest way to get in. Or real chums.
Unless you’re really gifted, it’s a tough crowd, the publishing business. That was my second job. I was school editor of the college paper. And I left civil service becuz
I had dreams of being a writer.
They took me in only because my Aunt was publisher. And my Aunt placed me in Administration, where I rotted for 2 years.
So, why listen to me?
